Dr. Tan Chin Hwee has been in general dental practice for over 30 years. His commitment to his patients’ care reflected in his application of results from evidence-based studies and published practice guidelines.

 

He served as an Examiner with the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, Royal College of Surgeons UK for 9 years, starting in 1999, for their postgraduate DP, RCS exam, and subsequently the MFGDP examination.

 

Since 1990, he has continuously developed his special interests in aesthetic dentistry, orthodontics, and dental implants. As one of the pioneering dentists placing conventional dental implants in Singapore, he has used implant systems, including Corevent (now Zimmer), Calcitek, Nobel, Ankylos, Straumann, and Osstem implants. His implant skills and surgical training were honed under skilled prosthodontists like Dr. Gerald Niznick and Dr. Fouad Khoury in the 1990s in Germany, as well as at Frankfurt University under the Certificate Course in Oral Implantology (Singapore) program and the University of Warwick’s Dental Implantology Program in the mid-2000s. Dr. Tan also holds the National University of Singapore’s Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology, which is accredited by the Singapore Dental Council.

 

Dr. Tan was fortunate to participate in the first Progressive Orthodontic Seminars (1991-1993) in Singapore, which were largely taught by the brilliant founder, Dr. Don Magann himself. Dr. Tan uses both ceramic and metal braces, functional appliances, and increasingly, his main focus—Invisalign.
